Line of sight systems, LTE and 5G Cellular and VHF

It will be evident to the reader that there has been a huge expansion of power generation from offshore wind in the UK sector of the North Sea. In fact the UK generally ranks highly in terms of world rankings for this type of power generation. MMX has been providing connectivity solutions to the offshore industry for many years and has in house experience focused on the planning, installation and commissioning as well as ongoing maintenance of a range of radio technology types. In fact, radio makes a lot of sense in terms of latency, throughput and reliability in an offshore setting. What makes MMX unique is our blend of Radio planning professionals together with a field force that is well accustomed to spending periods of time on offshore assets and OSS ( offshore sub-stations) associated with windfarms to perform installation and routine maintenance.

For traditional microwave radio systems we have deep experience of NEC and Aviat equipment, as well as with all of the major vendors active in this space. Our teams are familiar with the requirements of space diversity in order to provide stable and reliable connectivity to the operator of the offshore asset. Our engagement can be full turn-key solution or just the supply of suitably qualified telecom engineering personnel offshore and everything in between.

Increasingly operators are also looking at private LTE and 5G cellular in an offshore setting. MMX is ready to support with the planning aspects as well as the installation of the base station offshore, including all of the associated antenna and feeder runs as well as any fibre integration required.

VHF is also widely used for both avionic and marine shipping in traditional energy and OSS and MMX is the go-to for all aspects of VHF including cases where a requirement exists to integrate DMR ( Digital Mobile Radio) into VHF and telephony systems in an offshore context where we have deep experience of Jotron, Motorola and Racom.
