In the latest instalment of our Life at MMX series, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to gain an insider’s perspective from Chris Webb. Chris’s role as Technical Service Delivery Manager provides a unique vantage point, and we’re eager to delve into his experiences and insights in this engaging interview.

Let’s get to know Chris Webb!

When did you join MMX and have you always wanted to work in engineering?

I joined MMX on the 3rd of January 2022. Engineering wasn’t always my dream career; during my school years I actually wanted to become a long-distance lorry driver.

What does a typical day entail in your role?

It revolves around collaborating closely with the sales team to support both new and existing customers. Additionally, I’m currently engaged in a significant project involving two of London’s airports. This project involves replacing end-of-life satellite equipment and FM communication systems across 23 different sites. As a result, much of my time is dedicated to conducting site visits, preparing technical design documentation, and actively participating in regular project meetings.

How has your career progressed since working at MMX?

In addition to my role in technical support, I have also taken on the responsibility of project management for several projects.

What do you like most about working at MMX?

  1. The lovely people I work with.
  2. The work culture/mentality of EVERYONE.
  3. The variety of work we do.

What is it that you love about what we do?

Being one of the UK’s leaders in the communications industry.

If you were our Managing Director for the day, what one change would you bring about?

I’d advocate for weekly catch-up meetings involving all teams. This would provide a platform to openly discuss ongoing issues, troubleshoot challenges, and brainstorm what could be changed to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I have owned over 60 cars since passing my test at 17 years of age.

What are your favourite flavour crisps?

Cheese & onion.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

Playing with my three dogs and having quality time with my family.

Which of our brand values resonates with you the most? And why?

For me, it’s the ‘Focused’ value. Everybody within the business is focused on everything they do with a passion to succeed. The attitude of all our staff is second to none, we all work hard and play hard when given the opportunity. Respect for one another clearly shows from the directors down and this is seen by our suppliers and customers who respect MMX for its core values.

What’s your funniest MMX memory?

Naming no names, but this involves a punctured can of Pink Firestop in a freshly painted office, and the look on this person’s face as it sprayed up her back, over the walls and carpet, and up the ceiling…Oh yeah, and all over my RAB coat 😊

Thanks, Chris! That’s certainly been the funniest memory shared so far.
